Becky Worth was appointed our pastor starting November 1, 2017

Dear Cuba United Methodist Church Family,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! How excited I am to be writing this letter to all of you! I feel blessed that God has called me to become a licensed local pastor and to minister to and alongside so many wonderful people!

I grew up in Portville, New York and have two sisters, one older and one younger. I grew up in the middle of them. I graduated from Portville Central School in 1981 and graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1985 with a Bachelor's Degree in broadcast journalism. While attending college, I began working at Tops Market in Olean to help pay for some of my college expenses and have continued to work there ever since. I will be retiring from Tops in November after 35 years.

I have been married to my husband Bill for 30 years and we have two sons, Brent and Christian. We live in Allegany, New York. Our sons work in the area and also reside in Allegany.

I was raised Catholic and as a child, I always had a heart for God. My best friend in high school was Baptist and I would attend church with her often. It was in her church that I gave my life to Christ. I was married in the Catholic church and had my boys baptized in the Catholic church but I stopped attending because I felt God leading me elsewhere. In 2002, I went to Christ United Methodist Church in Olean with a friend and knew that this was where God was leading me. I became a member in 2003. I became very involved in the church and after taking a lay speaking class, I realized that I might have a calling to become a pastor. I have been a pulpit supply pastor for Caneadea , Bolivar, and Allentown churches and was appointed as a licensed local pastor for Hinsdale and Ischua churches. Looking back, I believe God has been calling me to ministry throughout my entire life. I really love serving people and my job at Tops has allowed me to do just that and now, as a local pastor, I have the opportunity to serve the wonderful people of Cuba United Methodist Church.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you so we can begin to get to know one another. I know that God has already been at work in powerful ways among you and I am looking forward to being a part of that. I have already begun to pray for each of you and ask that you would pray for me and my family and for the ministry of this church as I join in serving God with you.

In Christ,

Pastor Becky Worth
